Mobilizing Power

We advocate for sound public policy and enforcement of laws to protect public health.

CEH is a key player in environmental and public health policy, securing far-reaching policy victories at the local, state, and federal levels with our partners. During the last four years, there has been an onslaught against environmental health laws including attempts to undermine California’s Proposition 65 (Prop 65), other state warning and labeling laws, and the federal Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). These laws are critical to safeguarding the health of people in every community and must be protected. The results of the 2020 election and subsequent change in leadership at the federal level present new opportunities to both reverse some of the damage and advance positive environmental health laws. CEH will continue to advocate for environmental health protections for children, families, and vulnerable populations by defending critical laws like Prop 65 and pressuring agencies like the EPA to use their authority to reduce and prevent exposures to toxic chemicals. Building off of the work in 2020, in April 2021, we excitedly launched our Prop 65 Protects campaign in collaboration with environmental health, environmental justice, sustainable business, and labor allies. The goal of our campaign is to uplift new voices; share stories of how Prop 65 protects the health of families, communities, and workers; and engage allies in building a movement to advance and protect this critical public health law.

"CEH's policy and communications team partnered to build a diverse group of health professionals and environmental, environmental health, environmental justice, labor, and sustainable business advocates to improve and defend Prop 65 as one of the most critical public health laws keeping toxic chemicals out of our bodies."
