Dear CEH community,
In February 2020, I sat down at a diner with Mark Ruffalo in the Raleigh airport. We had just spent two days advocating, along with our grassroots partners in North Carolina, to eliminate PFAS from drinking water. Mostly, we talked about why fatherhood makes this work even more urgent for both of us. At the same time, CEH was suing companies for exposing consumers to toxic heavy metals in leather, and partnering with schools to protect kids from PFAS and other toxic chemicals in the cafeteria. Things were going really well at CEH. And then the pandemic rattled America, and everything shut down. To our surprise, we found we could still change the world from home. For example, a staff member took a piece of high-tech equipment from our lab and turned her closet into a research facility so we could keep testing leather products; we found that schools continued to be fired up about partnering with us to transform foodware; and we could challenge the EPA and chemical companies to keep PFAS out of North Carolina waters. 2020 was also a year of growth for CEH. We added five staff and two board members, and we have a bold vision to build the power of CEH and our movement to eliminate toxic chemicals from our lives. I want to take a moment to thank our staff, board, partners, and supporters. After an unprecedented year, I’m grateful for the strength, courage, resilience, and love of the CEH community. Warmly,
Michael Green Chief Executive Officer
